If you know me or have been reading my articles on Around the Plate for awhile, you know how much I love granola. It’s evident by the many recipes I’ve shared – like this Chocolate and Granola Covered Apple recipe – and a few of the other reviews and giveaways we have hosted here.
Today I’m excited to introduce you to yet another granola that I know you’ll love. In fact, this might just be my new favorite.
Enter Ladera Granola. Not only is this granola full of flavor, but it has a pretty great story behind it as well. And the only thing I love more than granola is a good story to go with it.
Ladera Granola was born in the kitchen of Karen Butterfield. Before becoming a granola master, Karen was a Stanford-trained medical doctor and mother of three. Like many other moms, she wasn’t very happy with the selection of granolas available to her and decided to do something about it. She wanted to create a granola that was just as healthy as it was delicious.
After experimenting with many different recipes, she finally created her first batch of original Ladera Granola. Being very popular amongst friends, her son decided to help bring it to market. Together, they have been bringing the highest quality of ingredients together for individuals to enjoy across the nation.
From a nutritional standpoint, the original has 150 calories per 1/4 cup serving, 3 grams of fiber, 4 grams of protein, and 9 grams of total fat, 1 gram coming from saturated. There are also only 4 grams of sugar per serving, which is pretty reasonable in my opinion.
Ingredients for this granola include whole grain oats, almonds, olive oil, maple syrup, pecans, brown sugar, spices, and salt. All ingredients that are easily recognizable and possibly in your kitchen cupboard as we speak. The almonds are easily visible too and I personally love the extra texture and crunch they provide.
Another high point for this particular brand of granola is that sustainability appears to be a top priority. This is evident by the fact that packaging used is 100% recyclable. This helps reduce your carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment in addition to your health.
Granola is a favorite of mine because its an easy way to add a little extra sustainable energy to your day. Its easy to store in an emergency meal kit and it makes a great addition to yogurt, fruit dips, and parfaits. I’m sure you could get even more creative wiht it if you really wanted, and of course, we’d love to hear your ideas, so feel free to share those in the comments.
Actually, we’ll even reward you for doing so. Thanks to the great people at Ladera Granola, we’re giving away one 12 oz bag of their original mix to one of our lucky readers. To enter, please follow the directions below:
