Did you know that I launched Around the Plate almost exactly six years ago? As a dietetic intern who had just finished watching the movie Julie & Julia, I thought it would be a great way to document my exploits in the kitchen.
Since then, I’ve had the great pleasure of watching Around the Plate grow from my own personal blog to a full on business. I had the opportunity to create nutrition content for brands and organizations of all shapes and sizes. I have met amazing bloggers from across the globe and saw them come together through the blog community we crafted here. I also launched two nutrition-inspired kitchen stores where cooking classes were developed and hosted while I learned just how important having the right kitchen tools on hand could make healthier eating easier, more affordable, and fun.
To everyone who has been apart of this journey – I’m so grateful to have met you! Thank you for playing your part in this experience. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
Earlier this summer, my husband and I had to make a difficult decision though. We made the decision that I would step away from Around the Plate full-time and begin pursuing other opportunities. We closed down both of our store locations officially at the end of August and I began a new adventure… say hello to the newest Nutrition Communications Manager at the United Dairy Industry of Michigan! Its a position I’m really excited about and one that combines my love for telling a good story with my passion for supporting local people, food and places.
I’ve already been able to tour a couple of dairy farms, one here in Michigan and one in Pennsylvania, since accepting the position and its been amazing! I’m very honored and proud to represent a group of such hard working individuals.
As far as the future of Around the Plate is concerned, well, its time for a new chapter. We’re officially wrapping up our old way of doing things and you’ll start to notice some changes happening around here. Hopefully, these changes will allow me to go back to my blogging roots and I’ll be able to share some new adventures with you all. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I’m going to be learning the ropes at UDIM over the next few months and you might not hear from me quite as often.
Even if its a little quieter around here though, I hope you’ll continue to check in from time to time. I’m still experimenting with food in my kitchen and I’ve got some pretty grand plans to share about food, dinner parties, and gatherings in the near future!
your girl behind the plate,
