There’s something delicious about an impromptu meal… or in our case, a snack/dessert. A snert if you will. Okay, don’t call it that… so not appealing!!
But you know what is appealing? A smoothie! A fruit-filled one that your husband wants to make for you.
Since getting our Blendtec blender, my husband has been all about the smoothies. Unfortunately for him, I sort of lost the top to the blender, went to order a replacement, got distracted… it was a brutal and drawn-out no-smoothie season for us.
But finally… we got the lid ordered and delivered! Smoothies (and milkshakes) back on the menu at last. My husband wasted no time. Today, he got to work. And I have to say he came up with something rather amazing. Together, he and our youngest created a spring berry smoothie – a deliciously refreshing, yet simple beverage.
So named because its suppose to be spring, or so I’m told, but when you wake up to weather like this…
…you begin to wonder if Michigan got the memo. It has to get warmer one of these days, right? That’s what I keep telling myself anyways.
- 1 medium banana, peeled
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled
- 1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
- 2 cups milk
- 12 ice cubes
- Coconut flakes (optional garnish)
- Combine all ingredients in a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Serve and enjoy!
Want to make a delicious smoothie while you wait for spring? Make this one or get creative with your own unique combinations. I love to start my smoothies out with milk + yogurt + fruit + leafy greens (my husband is still rather skeptical on the whole “add veggies to your smoothie thing,” so you’ll notice they’re missing from this glass). Three food groups easily crossed off your list one gulp at a time.
Fun fact: the best way to enjoy a smoothie is to make it yourself. This way, you get to determine what to add… or invite some friends and family to join in on the fun. You can’t go wrong when you stick with the basics and enjoy the process together.
