Show Some Love with these Healthy Valentine Desserts

WRaspberries in a Cuphile other holidays often focus on the large-and-in-charge meals like the infamous “Thanksgiving Feast” or “Christmas Dinner, ” Valentine’s day is all about the chocolates and desserts. That said, many people are looking for ways to curb their cravings for sweets so they won’t increase the curves around their waists!

Although it’s easy to buy the assorted pre-made chocolates for your sweetie pie, you could try different dessert options or bake your own sweet treats. This way, the treats will be satisfying and filling, instead of leaving you ready to bite into that next piece of chocolate!

We love trying new dessert options that are focused on health and wellness because we all want to make our cake and eat it too!

Here’s  a list of some of our favorite healthy Valentine desserts:

  • Coat blueberries or strawberries in Greek yogurt and freeze into bite size pieces!
  • Dipping berries, graham crackers or unsalted nuts and pretzels in small individual servings of melted chocolate or melted peanut butter
  • Boost the fiber in your brownies by using a black bean brownie recipe
  • Red peppers cut into slices and dipped in hummus. Try adding a few drops of red food dye into the hummus to make it more festive!
  • Any fruit dipped in strawberry, raspberry, or any yogurt flavor of your choice!
  • Cut cherry tomatoes in half on a diagonal and keep together using a toothpick. Dip in a small dish of dressing or eat as is. They’ll make the shape of a heart which is perfect for the tomato lover in your family!

The idea here is to love what you’re eating and feel good on the inside about how you’re handling those sweet tooth cravings. Another way to feel good about the desserts you’re creating is by swapping in healthier ingredients. That way you’re boosting the recipe’s nutritional value and often reducing the amount of calories and unhealthy fats present.

We liked how Jessica Serdikoff, a dietetic intern and food enthusiast, changed up her Raspberry Fudge Brownie recipe to make it healthier, without compromising its integrity or flavor!

All in all, Valentine’s Day is a great holiday to celebrate the people you love. Show them how much you care by exploring healthier dessert options together.
