Four Simply Healthy Smoothie Recipes

The colors alone are enough to have me craving a refreshing smoothie. These recipes are easy to create and packed with fiber, protein and healthy fats ranging from Greek yogurt to avocados and green tea to beets.

When I create these smoothies for breakfast, a mid-day snack or an evening dessert – I know I’m serving a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals in every sip.

Vanilla Melon Smoothie
Ingredients:
3 cups honeydew, cubed
1 apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
1/2 ripe avocado, peeled, pitted and chopped
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp lemon juice
4 almonds
1 cup ice cubes

Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender; whirl together until smooth.
2. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Cashew Green Tea Smoothie
Ingredients: 
10 ounces almond milk
1/4 cup Greek plain yogurt
1 cup fresh baby spinach
1 Tbsp cashew butter
1 large  banana
1 1/2 cups green tea, brewed
1 cup ice cubes

Directions: 
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender; whirl together until smooth.
2. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Honey Beet Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 large banana
1/3 cup roasted beets, diced
1 kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
1 cup Greek plain yogurt
1 tsp honey
1 cup ice cubes
2 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
1 Tbsp ground flax seeds

Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender; whirl together until smooth.
2. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Strawberry Mint Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup strawberries, stems and leaves removed
1/2 cup blueberries
1 cup seltzer, chilled
2 Tbsp honey
4 large fresh mint leaves
3 Tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
2 tsp chia seeds
1 cup ice cubes

Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender; whirl together until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
