You can never have too many quick and easy breakfast options! That’s why I love whole grain waffles… they serve as a great start for a variety of quick and easy breakfast combinations – like these apple peanut butter waffles!
In Michigan, nothing feels more seasonal than a deliciously crisp apple during the fall season. Its a perfect addition to many meals, including this one, and not just because of its great flavor. Apples are rich in fiber and a host of powerful antioxidants. Because of this, incorporating apples into your day may help reduce your risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
Along with apples, this recipe also includes peanut butter, chia seeds, apple pie spice and cinnamon. Together, they make one satisfying breakfast that tastes delicious and helps fuel you up for the day. Well, at least until lunch swings around.
Peanut butter and chia seeds are two other powerhouse foods, offering up some protein, fiber, and even a little calcium between the two. The spices used also have their own nutritional claims to fame, but when it comes to spices, one of the biggest reasons I utilize them is to simply enhance the flavor of other nutrient-rich foods. This way they remain appealing. No matter how healthy a food is, if it doesn’t taste amazing, it probably won’t stay on your menu for very long.
This recipe only took about 5 minutes to create and it was a hit with all members of the family. I hope your family enjoys it too.
