“Who doesn’t love sitting around the campfire, enjoying an ooey gooey s’more? My family and I don’t have a fire pit in our backyard, but we do have a small charcoal grill! So we converted it into a small fire pit and roasted away. I wanted to created a healthier version of the summertime classic, and decided to swap out the marshmallow for a couple slices of banana. It was the perfect upgrade and resulted in a great tasting healthy s’mores recipe I hope you and your family will love as much as mine.” – Kati Mora, MS, RD
For optimal results, treat the banana slices just like you would marshmallows. Put two slices on a stick and hold over the flame. You’ll want to leave them there until the bananas start to get a little darker in color.
After the bananas have roasted over the fire a bit, you’ll want to place them directly on top of the chocolate square resting on top of one graham cracker square.
Top with the other graham cracker square and viola! One deliciously upgraded s’more!
